Kaiser Medical Center - All medical students who rotate through the Kaiser system are required to provide their social security number and date of birth prior to their arrival on rotation. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS/Student In-Processing Guide
FOR ALL TRAINEES
1. HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT (HIPAA)
You must do this training prior to coming to TAMC via internet and bring your printed certificates with you to the clerkship coordinator at the Medical Education Office, Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC).

Go to “Developmental Plan” and complete all required modules. Optional courses are left to your discretion.
To print HIPAA certificates, select “Learning History”
screen and click on print for individual course completion.
2. BIRTH MONTH ANNUAL REVIEW (BMAR)
You may do this training on your first day of in-processing. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
3. BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
Bring your current Basic Life Support (BLS) card with you when in-processing at the Medical Education Office at TAMC. ACLS is not required.
4. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
The Occupational Health Clinic (OHC) only reviews medical students and resident trainee’s health records on Monday and Wednesday morning between 0730-1130 hours. Keep this in mind, when reporting for in-processing and due to unexpected lines at OHC, plan to report by 1100 hours. You must be cleared by the OHC, before you are allowed to see patients.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT AFFILIATES AT
TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER (TAMC)
1. The following requirements are, except where otherwise indicated, considered the minimum essential:
A written statement from a physician that the individual is free of all communicable diseases.
Tuberculosis Screening.
(1) IPPD (Mantoux Intermediate Strength PPD 5-TU), unless cointraindicated, will be administered by a military or State facility within 6 months prior to reporting to TAMC. Retesting will be required annually thereafter. The individual will be required to provide documentation to the Occupational Health Clinic.
(2) Positive tuberculin reactors will obtain a chest x-ray within one year prior to reporting to TAMC and 4 years thereafter. Bring documentation of date and findings (normal) of last chest x-ray and if took TB medications for how long?
Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps and Varicella Screening.
(1) Screening tests for the presence of Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps and Varicella antibodies must be performed and, individuals with nonprotective titers must be immunized prior to reporting to TAMC. Need to bring copies of positive titer’s laboratory reports.
(2) If an individual has had screening tests for the presence of Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps and Varicella antibodies and can obtain a statement from a physician or authorized official attesting to the fact that the employee had a protective Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps & Varicella titer, the immunizations will not be required.
Diptheria-tetanus. The individual is required to have had a Diptheria-tetanus immunization within the past 10 years. Documentation must be provided prior to reporting to TAMC.
Polio. The individual is recommended to have had a completed series of Polio vaccine prior to reporting to TAMC.
2. It is highly recommended that all personnel be immunized with the hepatitis B vaccine.
Documentation for all three Hepatitis B shots (dates) or positive HBsAb.
3. Documentation of Results. All personnel will be requested to furnish documentation and results of these medical requirements which will be reviewed by the Occupational Health staff during inprocessing. Personnel who are unable to furnish documentation will not be considered medically cleared and, subsequently, not able to start work until these perequisites are met.
4. Exceptions to Policy. Requests for any exceptions to these policies will be coordinated with the Clinical Head Nurse at the Occupational Health Clinic at TAMC or U.S. Army Health Clinic, Schofield Barracks, for review by the Occupational Health Program Manager and the Chief, Preventive Medicine Service.
