Welcome to the homepage of the Internal Medicine Interest Group of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine! We hope this site will become a valuable resource as you explore your career options and learn about the diverse and exciting field of Internal Medicine.

Who are we?

The JABSOM Internal Medicine Interest Group is a student-run organization founded in 2006.  Its goals are to provide information about careers in Internal Medicine, foster communication with faculty, connect students with research opportunities, and improve clinical skills and knowledge applicable to Internal Medicine.  The group is affiliated with the American College of Physicians and the JABSOM Department of Medicine, which generously provide its funding. 

What is Internal Medicine?

Internal Medicine is the specialty centered on the prevention and nonsurgical treatment of adult diseases.
Internists may practice general internal medicine or may undertake additional training in one of medicine's fourteen subspecialties:

Adolescent Medicine Gastroenterology Oncology
Allergy and Immunology Geriatrics Pulmonology
Cardiology Hematology Rheumatology
Critical Care Infectious Disease Sports Medicine
Endocrinology Nephrology
