About Our Visiting Professor Program...
 
E komo mai (welcome) and thank you for agreeing to be our Visiting Professor of Medicine. We'd like to share some information to help you plan a pleasant and enjoyable visit to Honolulu. We enclose a map of our island to aid in your planning and heighten your anticipation. In addition, here are some pointers:
 
Air Transportation
 
Because of individual preferences, we recommend that Visiting Professors arrange their own air transportation. If you provide us with an updated e-mail address or fax number, we can alert you to Hawaii airfare specials if we hear about them.

We encourage you to make your own arrangements, but we can make some recommendations based on recent Visiting Professors' feedback:

This smaller "boutique" hotel is a few blocks away from the heart of Waikiki. It offers discounts to visiting University faculty. Mention our program and phone number (586‑7478), and they will call us to verify your faculty status.

Honolulu has many other hotels in the budget to luxury range, which recent Visiting Professors have not "tested." Happy hunting, but remember that December to March is a very popular time to visit Hawaii, so make reservations early!

Lectures are either in the "Hale Pulama Mau Auditorium" or "PB5 Classroom." The Department of Medicine Office is located in the Hale Pulama Mau Building on the 8th Floor.

Grand Rounds are held in the 2nd Floor Lobby of the Queen’s Conference Center at 510 S. Beretania St. The Department of Medicine is on the 7th Floor of the University Tower Building.
